Los Angeles Synchro Nymphs

 

Los Angeles Synchro Nymphs is proud to offer synchronized swimming instruction to athletes of all levels, under the direction of our excellent coaching staff and elite specialty consultants. Our coaches are experts in synchronized swimming, and have first-hand experience in both coaching and competing at elite levels.

Los Angeles Synchro Nymphs is a year round competitive synchronized swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide all members the opportunity to improve their synchronized swimming skills and achieve success at every level of ability, from novice to international competitor.

Our team was established in 1978. We continue to qualify and attend national competitions season, as well as various other meets throughout the western United States. In 2012, 2014, and 2017, L.A. Synchro was crowned State Synchronized Swimming Champions at the California State Games!

Our Programs    

                                                     

Los Angeles Synchro Nymphs offers programs for synchronized swimmers of all ages and ability levels.  It is our goal to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each athlete to the best of her abilities. 

Non-competitive Programs

Mermaid FUNdamentals and Advanced   

  • This is an entry-level non-competitive program designed for athletes who have completed the “Intro to Synchro” class and would like to learn more!  
  • This six-week program meets once a week for 90-minute sessions.  
  • Participants must have basic swimming skills (Level 4 or 5 American Red Cross or equivalent), be deep-water safe, and be age 7 or older.   
  • This program is designed to teach basic synchro skills and concepts.   

Competitive Teams

Placement on our competitive teams is determined by Coaches.  Coaches will evaluate all potential competitive team members to assess potential competitive team placement. 

Novice 

  • Athletes in this group should have successfully completed the "Mermaid" program, or have mastered the skills taught at that level. 
  • Athletes in this program are between the ages of 7 and 12.
  • Athletes practice for 4 hours per week on a Saturday morning, with the option of practicing twice a month on Mondays (figures) 
  • Athletes compete in four to six meets per season at the local and regional level. 

Intermediate

  • After mastering the skills obtained at the Novice level, athletes move up to the Intermediate team  .
  • Athletes in this group are usually 8 to 15 years old and have some competitive synchronized swimming experience.
  • Athletes will train three days per week plus an additional figure practice bi-monthly and travel to multiple pool locations for practice. 
  • Athletes compete in four to six meets per season at the local and regional level. An annual tradition is for intermediate athletes to travel to a meet in Arizona with our Age Group and Junior athletes.
  • This group competes in the following age group categories: 10 & under, 11-12, 13-15, and 16-17. 

Age Group

  • Athletes entering this group must display required skills and a commitment to train four times per week for a total of 13 hours per week. 
  • Due to the time and dedication required, both athlete and family must be committed to this level, pass LTADs, and travel to multiple pools locations for practice. 
  • Athletes in this group compete in six to ten meets at the local, regional, and national level.
  • This group competes in the following age group categories: 12 & Under, 13-15, 16-17, and 18-19. 

Junior/Senior

  • Athletes at this level have years of competitive experience, and a demonstrated passion, dedication and skill level. 
  • Minimum age for entry into this group is 15 years old.  
  • Junior/Senior athletes practice with Age Group four times per week for a total of 13 hours per week. 
  • Due to the time and dedication required, both athlete and family must be committed to this level, pass LTADs, and travel to multiple pools locations for practice. 
  • This group competes at the local, regional, national, and sometimes international level.   

 

NOTE: A synchronized swimmer's competitive age is based on the oldest age that athlete will be during that calendar year.
